Ft. Carson

Fort Carson is a local Army post located just southwest of Colorado Springs. It was opened in 1942 following the Pearl Harbor attack. It is almost 18,000 acres in size. Fort Carson is home to just under 26,000 active duty soldiers as well as over 59,000 retirees, family and civilians. It is recognized for its beautiful scenery. It is a premier post known as the “Mountain Post”. In 2007 Fort Carson adopted the motto “The Best Hometown in the Army” for its soldiers becoming the second most sought after post. Fort Carson’s mission is to “prepare trained and ready expeditionary forces for deployment in support of Combatant Commander requirements, provide first class support to Soldiers and families, and enable unified action with community, state and interagency partners for the greater good of their soldiers and their missions.”

The “Mountain Post” is minutes away from many Colorado Springs attractions, including Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak. This is a post with a mild climate and beautiful mountain scenery.
