Peterson Air Force Base

Peterson Air Force Base is located adjacent to the Colorado Springs airport and just east of Colorado Springs. It is home to approximately over 8,700 active duty soldier, 1,300 reservists, 10,000 family members, 1900 civilians and 23,000 Air Force, Navy and Marine Retirees. Peterson Air Force Base is home to the 21st Space Wing which is the “Air Force’s only organization providing missile warning and space control to unified commanders and combat forces worldwide.” Their mission statement is to “Execute global capabilities to defend the homeland and secure space for our nation and allies.” Peterson Air Force Base provides medical support to retired military families as well as a strong community support to military as well as civilians. It is also home to the Peterson Air and Space museum where they encourage families from Colorado Springs and surrounding areas to visit and explore what the Base has to offer.
