Schriever Air Force Base

Schriever Air Force Base is the fifth military installation constructed in 1983 in the Colorado Springs area, located just 10 miles east of the city. It is home to the 50th Space Wing, the Space Innovation and Development Center, the Missile Defense Agency, as well as the 310th Space Wing. Schriever Air Force base has over 1100 active duty soldiers and just under 2000 family members. Schriever’s mission is “to command satellites to deliver decisive global effects, to include precision navigation and timing and secure satellite communication, through command and control of DOD satellite systems.” Their vision is to evolve the force, drive innovation and master space.
