United States Air Force Academy
The United States Air Force Academy is located just north west of Colorado Springs. It is home to more than 4,000 cadets, 1,800 civilians and over 1,600 active duty. The Air Force Academy is the youngest of all the US service academies established in 1954. The Air Force Academy’s mission is to “Provide timely, quality support to enhance the education and development of future Air Force leaders, the installation and quality of life of personnel.” The Air Force Academy is located on the side of Eagle Peak with breathtaking views of Colorado Springs. People visiting the Air Force Academy can see the cadet football games, bike trails through the academy as well as the Cadet Chapel and displays of retired aircraft. It is a unique military base where military and civilian families can visit and create lasting memories.
